Dr. Nevine K. Fahmy

Child and Adolescence Psychiatrist

Dr. Nevine K. Fahmy is a distinguished psychiatrist with a focus on child and adolescent psychiatry. She graduated from Ain Shams University Medical School in 1988 and began her residency in Cairo, Egypt. During her residency, she volunteered with the Best Life Program, Egypt’s first addiction treatment program, under the auspices of Bishop Serapion, who is currently the Metropolitan of Los Angeles and Southern California.

In 1991, Dr. Fahmy was sent to the United States for advanced training in addiction treatment. She completed two internships during this time and was recognized for her pioneering work in the field. After returning to Egypt to complete her residency, she continued to work with individuals struggling with addiction.

Dr. Fahmy later moved to New Jersey, where she completed a general psychiatry residency and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Rutgers University. Following her training, she briefly served as an assistant professor before establishing a successful private practice. In her practice, Dr. Fahmy works with both children and adults, and she is highly regarded for her careful approach to medication management.

From 2002 to 2007, Dr. Fahmy served as a psychiatric consultant at the Center of Addiction in Somerville, NJ, where she provided care to MICA (Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted) patients and taught medical students during their clinical rotations. Additionally, from 2003 to 2010, she served as a psychiatric consultant for the Juvenile Detention Center in Somerville County. Her dedication in this role influenced judicial decisions to enhance patient support and prevent reentry into the juvenile system.
